Arugam Bay – Surf & Pottuvil Lagoon
Main Point in Arugam Bay is one of Asia’s consistently listed right-handers – long, forgiving and consistent from May to October. The Pottuvil Lagoon in the afternoon, by small boat looking for crocodiles, monitor lizards and kingfishers in the mangroves, is the quieter half of a very good full day.
Weligama / Hiriketiya – Surf Lesson
Weligama Bay and Hiriketiya Bay offer two of Sri Lanka’s most beginner-friendly surf conditions – long, gentle waves in warm water with certified instructors. Weligama for the wide bay experience; Hiriketiya for the bowl-shaped cove that is slightly more sheltered. Both work on the first attempt and reward more time in the water.
